Inside My Sessions

How Art of Problem Solving Honed My Entrepreneurial Mindset.
These three skills I learned through the Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) curriculum, the method I use to teach your child, benefitted my entrepreneurial mindset of helping solve homelessness, poverty, and environmental harms through creating a sustainable tiny house non-profit and a sustainable backyard automated greenhouse.
Critical Thinking
Asking, "Why?" is the first step. When I thought about what the issues in society were, I saw food-insecurity, homelessness, and environmental degradation. Then, I thought about root cause. After that, I thought of high-impact solutions for the biggest net-positive. These steps I took to innovate two businesses are the same steps I used to solve AoPS math problems. Cool, right?
Problem Solving
Learning how to isolate the core problem and developing plans to solve it was a skill I used heavily in leadership and entrepreneurship. For instance, when a sub-team in the tiny house non-profit wasn't motivated, my leadership team searched for causes, and implemented focused solutions. This is agile leadership at it's core using problem solving.
Logical Reasoning
Through the AoPS curriculum, I learned how to analyze situations to predict behaviors. To my surprise, I found used this skill in team management. For example, when my co-President and I were discussing motivation, we modeled out motivating and de-motivating factors in an inequality formula.
